Grant Nordman

Grant Nordman (born January 19, 1950, in Santa Monica, California) is the City Councillor for St. Charles Ward in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.[1]

Nordman was elected to Winnipeg City Council October 25, 2006 he replaced retiring Councillor Peter De Smedt.[2]

Grant Nordman is the second member of his family to serve as the councillor for St. Charles Ward. His father, the late Ric Nordman, served as the city councillor for St. Charles Ward from 1974 to 1981 and as the provincial MLA for Assiniboia from 1981 to 1988.

The 2010 Winnipeg Civic Election [3] saw Grant Nordman elected with a 52% plurality of the vote.

On November 6, 2010, Grant Nordman was elected by his fellow councillors to the position of speaker of the Winnipeg City Council. He is also the chair of the Secretariat Committee,[4] a member of the Standing Policy Committee on Infrastructure Renewal and Public Works,[5] the Assiniboia Community Committee[6] and the Board of Appeal (Local Improvement Assessment Appeals). In addition, Grant is the city council respresentative to the Mayor's Seniors Advisory Committee, Heritage Winnipeg, the St. James-Assiniboia Museum Board, the Winnipeg Convention Centre and HMCS Winnipeg.
